"How many types of DTF PET film are there?"

We are an ink factory, so naturally we are very familiar with ink, and we are also very familiar with all related products in the entire DTF (Direct to Film) process. Moreover, we have long-term cooperation with many factories, and we are very familiar with product quality control and the composition and manufacturing processes of the products. Today, we will share how to choose high-quality PET film.

Generally speaking, all PET films on the market can be divided into two types: oil-based film and water-based film. What are the differences between these two types? How should you choose the right one? Not every film is suitable for you.

The choice depends on the geographical environment, temperature, humidity, and the length of the rainy season in your country. These factors determine which type of film is suitable for you.

PET film is divided into two types: oil-based film and water-based film. All films on the market fall into these two categories. What are the characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of each?

Water-based film:

Raw material difference: The base film material is different.

Advantages: Excellent release properties, easy to peel off. During use, the oven temperature does not need to be set too high — around 135°C is enough to dry it. The heat press temperature also does not need to be very high, about 145-150°C, to peel the pattern off easily, and the effect is very good.

Disadvantages: The only drawback is that it is prone to moisture absorption. When exposed to the air, it easily absorbs moisture, which can lead to powder sticking during use, and the printed pattern may have rough edges or look uneven.

Cost: The production cost is lower.

Suitable countries: Tropical countries, countries with little rainfall, Southeast Asian countries, and South African countries. These regions are very suitable for water-based film, as it offers good quality at a low price.

Oil-based film:

Raw material difference: The base film material is different.

Cost: The production cost is higher than that of water-based film, so the selling price is also slightly higher.

Advantages: Stable performance, not prone to moisture absorption, so it is less likely to cause powder sticking.

Disadvantages: The oven temperature needs to be adjusted higher, to around 140°C (please test according to your specific oven conditions). The heat press temperature needs to be increased to about 155°C for proper fusion. If the oil-based film is selected, the customer needs to adjust the oven and heat press temperatures accordingly. If it is not dried properly, the color may fade. The customer needs to handle this carefully.

Suitable countries: European and American countries, countries with high rainfall.

Choose the PET film that suits your country's characteristics, and that will be the best choice for you.
